IOANNA is a dining chair titled after my aunty, Ioanna - the most influential person for the early cultivation of my passion for art and design. Just like my aunt, IOANNA stands proudly, is robust, has got your back (and arms!) when in need, is excellent at making you feel comfortable, is a hugger, oozes style, class and fun. Perhaps the main point of difference is if you fart on IOANNA, you’ll probably get away with it. Should you attempt the same with my aunt, on the other hand, you might end up with a broken nose. IOANNA showcases the beautiful, pinkish hue and grey accents of spotted gum, which is often deepened and lost with an oil/varnish application. Instead, IOANNA is finished with a natural wax, and features removeable armrest slips, seat and backrest. IOANNA's frame is made from spotted gum that has failed QC and rescued from Tait Enterprises, offcut upholstery fabric donated by Martel Upholstery, a discarded drum cable used for seat and backrest body and recycled HDPE plastic for the backrest plate.
