Brigid Isbester, Inlay Jarrah and Rock Maple Jewellery Box (Student)
My jewellery box is made from jarrah and rock maple. I wanted to challenge myself through incorporating a high level of complexity and intricacy. Attention to detail can be seen in the inlay dovetails, marquetry inlay on the lid and top compartment, each of these features merges effortlessly. Particular attention was paid to the marquetry on the lid and it was influenced by the contrast between dark and light timbers in conjunction with flowing lines. Form laminating was incorporated into the box through the curved compartments in the trays, creating an amazing aesthetic balance. School name: St. John’s College Dubbo, Teacher: Mark Scullard.
