The design concept of the box draws inspiration from the elegant and geometric aesthetics of Art Deco architecture, embracing its distinctive symmetry. The box is made of salvaged Huon Pine and Blackwood and made completely using hand tools. The Huon was from a damaged/incomplete chest of drawers that when disassembled I found had a maker's signature with a date of 1870. The Blackwood's rich, deep color complements the aged Huon Pine's golden hue. The 10 dovetailed drawers feature birdseye fronts and turned Huon Pine pulls. A hidden drawer in the base adds an element of surprise and intrigue. It is fixed in place and is operated by a magnetic drawer pull. The box is finished with an oil wax blend and measures 420mmW x 450H x 200D
