Michelle Hughes, Hammered Dulcimer (Art & Accessories)
This is the first woodworking project I have ever done. Never even used a drill before this... I wanted to prove to myself that even turning 50 and being unemployed for over a year, I could still learn new skills and conquer my fears. I even made the bridges and hammers from scratch – though the rosettes over the sound holes were purchased. The hammered dulcimer is a folk instrument – played by striking the strings with the hammers. Many thanks to MusicMakers at www.harpkit.com for the instructions and blueprints. Soundboard skilfully prepared by Jake Davey from Jellyshake Timber and Designs.
