Mark Robinson, Geometric LED Coffee Table (Student)

My coffee table features a geometric pattern that was freehand routed, chiseled out and then filled with coloured epoxy resin. The pattern has a smart LED strip underneath it that is bluetooth and sound reactive. It has six felt lined drawers with push to open drawer runners. The drawers are dovetailed and the drawer fronts are made up of resin and timber. The joints in the legs are interlocking finger joints with the fingers of the rails interlocking in the middle of the leg. The slats are joined to the bottom rails with inlaid dovetails. The two timbers used in this project are purpleheart and American hard maple. This is my most complex project to date. I am a year 12 student at Armidale Secondary College. The project is my major work for Industrial Technology.
