The GaraWood sculpted rocker is a hand carved work of art. Each element of the chair elegantly melts into the next giving a feeling on endless curvature. The rich brown figured wood is Bastogne walnut from west coast of the United States. The entire chair was constructed from a single piece of the tree allowing for the perfect figure and color matching. The wood is finished with a clear oil to allow the wood to speak for itself and tell a story of natures amazing creations. The quilted maple back braces are bent laminations of Bastogne and maple created over a curved form. These flexible back braces, inspired by the great Hal Taylor, offer the ultimate comfort and lumbar back support. The joinery used to connect each element of the chair was influence by the master of rocking chairs, Sam Maloof. Modified rabbit joints that unite the curved legs with the carved seat to offer incredible heirloom strength and a pleasure to the eye. This chair captures the essence of a functional art piece; its the culmination of comfort, magnificent engineering and the preservation the wood that nature has blessed us with.
