This mixed species bedframe was heavily inspired by the traditional four post canopy beds. The historical design originally was used to keep the occupants warm by the use of curtains around the top of the frame. However, this frame just utilizes tapering of the posts, to highlight the elegance and modernism of the bed, which was created by a bandsaw and then planed using a smoothing plane. This makes the design timeless and pleasing to the eye. The design is knock down, to make the frame convenient and adaptable in all environments, such as those with a low roof. Bugle screws are used to attach the posts onto the bed head and end. While the sides of the bed are attached to the bed head and end by bed brackets. This doesn’t only make setting up the bed easy, as only an Allen key and cordless drill are needed, it also helps create stability. On the top of the tapered posts a rod was tapped and inserted. These rods are made is used to keep the top frame in place, which were joined with cross halving's. Where a washer is placed on top to secure it. The bed head and end are made with a floating panel which is enclosed by a hand cut mitre join. The sharp edges were arised using a low angle block plane and the finish sanding used 120, 180 and 240 grit sandpaper. The whole frame was then covered in organic oil to accentuate the timbers natural colour.
