Luke Peterson, Flame Jarrah Cabinet (STUDENT 2021)
With shop-sawn, book-matched veneer sliding doors, this cabinet pushed me into the unknown as a maker. I taught myself how to do veneering, through much reading and a few failures along the way. I look forward to now incorporating more veneer work in future projects. Furthermore, as a designer, the specific request from my client for ventilation in the cabinet, forced me to think outside the norm to come up with an aesthetically pleasing solution. I chose to come up with a unique way to ventilate the cabinet using 62 individual slats, rather than using fans or ventilation holes.
