“Figuras” I finally completed my tools cabinet build which helps me a lot in fighting anxiety by keeping my hands and mind busy amidst this uncertain time. This is the biggest build so far in my 2 years of woodworking hobby. I have so many firsts and challenges with this one, from tools choices, joineries, what finish to use and the weight of the piece. I always find the building phase in unplugged woodworking to be more satisfying and enjoyable over having actually completed a project, but Figuras is an exception. I am really happy how it turnout particularly the resewn and book matched drawer & door faces. Now I need to fill it up with tools before my wife mistakenly thinks it’s her dresser Build strategy - I started with a rough drawing with dimensions and divided it several small sections to avoid being overwhelmed by the build. Wood - Mahogany for the base and carcass; Dau for the drawer and door faces; Acacia for the drawer pulls and door handles; reclaimed pallet woods for the backs Joineries - Hidden dovetails, half blind dovetails, thru dovetails, sliding dovetails, haldlap, dado, stopped dado, mortise & tenon, tongue & groove Finish - Water based poly for the interior; Boiled Linseed Oil in the exterior. I’m very impressed how BLO popped the grains of the wood, it’s almost like 3D
