Lindsay Ikin, Fiddleback Coffee Table (Furniture)
This table stands 500mm high 970mm long 430mm wide. The legs are made of oregon and the rails are red stringybark. The top centre redgum inserts are dowelled to the red stringybark length. The 3mm insert section is redgum. The outer section is mountain ash. The top was assembled with many biscuits. The timber in this table has been brought back to furniture grade. The red stringybark has a rare fiddleback grain. The redgum also has good fiddleback grain. The red stringybark was from flooring. The redgum from a fence post. Oregon from an old bed frame. The top was finished with 1200 paper and has four coats of Feast Watson weatherproof varnish. The label on the tin says satin but it tends more towards gloss. I am not complaining because it looks fantastic.
