I was once challenged to make wood look like crumpled paper. This is the result. These pieces are made by hand and eye. Each facet is shaped and angled to meet the next. The real challenge is to end up with the entire piece as a rectangle. I carefully measure from corner to corner to ensure a perfect shape. They are made using shop made veneer onto 1/2” Baltic birch plywood, then I fibreglass the back to ensure longevity. I’ve made six or seven of these for clients. They are both enjoyable and excruciating to build. Photo #1 is 42"x30".
