ESCALONADO is the name of this object, which is part of a series of 9 objects inspired by the decorative patterns of the Diaguita indigenous culture in Chile. The pattern was constructed using a variation of the Japanese yosegi-zaiku technique, and its shape is related to and coherent with the same pattern. It consists of a base and a mast where a box is placed, containing two drawers. These drawers feature the pattern on their front face as an inlay. The opening mechanism is via a rotating rod at the top, which opens both drawers simultaneously. Woods used in the pattern: American walnut (black), marupa (white), padouk (red). Woods used in the object: Lenga, American walnut. Object measurements: 400mm x 200mm
