Dualism is a nightstand set of two that juxtaposes two opposite designs of the same piece, claiming a right to uncertainty. One piece is fully made from European cherry except for the drawer front, which is veneered with a double-bevel marquetry composition. The other one consists of a plywood miter-joint carcase, veneered with the same marquetry design and combined with solid European cherry drawer and legs. The marquetry parts are edge banded with a 5 mm thick lamination before they are veneered. The drawers are side hung and constructed in the English manner, with drawer slips to accept the drawer bottom. The drawer stops consist of a steel spring added to the runners. Both pieces are finished with a few layers of shellac and a final layer of wax, polished with cotton cloth.
