A coffee table crafted from materials salvaged during a bathroom demolition and renovation in Melbourne, Victoria. As both a builder and designer, I've long pondered the potential of repurposing old Oregon straps typically used in lath and plaster of historic homes. During a lunch break, I decided to plane a few pieces and was amazed by the intricate grain hidden beneath the rough exterior. The concept of the herringbone pattern emerged from the juxtaposition of its traditional association with elegance against its use on weathered bathroom timber. The Oregon pieces are fixed to a particle board substrate, remnants from the renovation, while the floating shelf incorporates Oregon sourced from Urban Salvage
