Liam Cook, Double Rocking Chair (Student Awards 2017)
Double Rocking Chair For my HSC major project I crafted a double rocking chair. Designed as a collaboration of many different designs my intention was to create a comfortable, sustainable piece of furniture to naturally fit within the household. Using the lightly coloured Australian white cedar in collaboration with a glossy exterior varnish this classic style rocking chair provides many great features surrounding aesthetics and practicality. Over its construction I have learned and applied many skills such as the mortise and tenon joint, the shaping of components, lamination and countless others. I am very pleased with the end result and the skills I have gained throughout the process. Dimensions: 910mm H x 1150mm W x 910mm D Date of manufacture: 11/10/16 – 09/08/17 Materials: Australian white cedar. Liam Cook, Year 12, Francis Greenway High School, Maitland, NSW.
