I wanted to design a classic, yet contemporary, casual dining chair. A chair that offers a timeless feel, clean lines, comfort and security for the user; but also having a measure of simple minimalistic aesthetic. To achieve this a number of techniques were used in its construction. The rear legs and back rails are made from bent laminations. The seat is formed in a vacuum press, with shop sawn veneers, and all joinery is stopped mortice and tenon. To emphasise that clean smooth sophisticated look, American White Ash has been used and finished with Livos' natural oil sealer. A smooth frame, subtle curves and prominent regular crowns in the grain equate to a beautiful tactile experience.
