This stool is made from Tasmanian Blackwood. The framed and slatted seat floats above curved and tapered laminated legs and is supported by four gussets which are mortised and tenoned into the seat and the legs. The edges and corners of the seat are curved and rounded over to soften the design while creating a smooth and comfortable seating experience. The slatted panel is recessed slightly and also has a concave shape. The four legs are connected at the top, under the seat, with a single floating draw bored tenon. Stretchers cross diagonally down below with through tenons into the legs and also add a pleasing visual element with subtle tapered curves. The generous footrest is shaped for comfort and attaches to the legs with through dowels.
