This idea has been with me for a while. To be honest it started with a dive into 1960’s handbags and spiralled out control from there. I loved that quilted Chanel look and it’s lack of vertical and horizontal elements. The idea of incorporating it into a cabinet was too much to resist. 4mm shop cut Blackbutt veneers were grain matched and laminated onto black MDF. A Shaper Origin handheld CNC and a range of cutters were used to cut though the veneers and bevel the diamond pattern. A combination of computer modeling and luck ensured everying opened and closed seamlessly.
