While working for the Salvation Army moving furniture and waste a lot of the furniture that was dumped at their stores had to be taken to waste sites and dumped which was a cost. The furniture was often made with native timber and there were hundreds of bed slats. Thought that there might be a way for the Salvos to make money and save costs by getting disadvantaged people to create something. My 3 entries are trial examples. All of them are made without using any mechanical fastenings - no screws or nails This coffee table is made with Red Gum, Pine bed slats. The inlay is lemon tree and Wisteria rings in epoxy with an epoxy covering over the table top.
