Rehan Monnanda, Circular Resin Coffee Table (STUDENT 2021)

Throughout my Year 12 Major Work, I practically applied my skills and knowledge to create a Circular Resin Coffee Table made out of Tasmanian Blackwood. The inspiration of this project stems much deeper into my family background in which we are 4th generation coffee growers in a small village located in South India. This generational link is incorporated through my contemporary adaptation of a traditional coffee table. The table features a lazy susan tabletop that rotates and a resin feature. Furthermore, the practicality of a coffee table has been considered by the utilisation of curved, flush-fitting drawers. Overall this project is very unique and offers a new perspective on the design of a modern-day coffee table.
