Timothy Quirk, Chatoyance Cabinet (STUDENT 2021)
Cabinet on a stand in American Cherry. The stand is constructed of three-way mitre joinery and the carcase of mitred dovetails. Back and door frames and panels are book matched along with the drawer fronts. Carcase is made up of 9 slip matched boards which brings out the beautiful figure in the quarter sawn timber. The cabinet is fitted out with brass hardware and ebony details. The ebony door and drawer pulls are inlaid with rhodonite cabochons set in silver bezels. Very big thank you to Roy Schack who was our tutor for this project and a massive inspiration for the cabinet. I learnt a huge variety of skills during the build.
