Boris Polak, Bonsi Jewellery Bos # One (BOWLS, BOXES 2021)

This unique heirloom jewellery/keepsake box is handcrafted from unique and rare Australian Hairy She-oak. The lid incorporates North American Rock Maple to achieve a striking contrast between the rich honey brown tones and thickly striated grain of the Hairy She-oak and pale American Rock Maple. The lid features a stylised bonsai tree inlayed into Rock Maple and framed by Hairy She-oak and is hinged using solid brass stop hinges. The inlay uses Australian Black Bean for the trunk and Silky Oak and Meranti for the foliage. With the exception of American Rock Maple, all timber used was recycled. The base of the box and trays is lined with soft brown suede.
