My project breathes new life into heritage blackwood, honouring tradition while embracing modernity. Crafted from logs left by my grandfather, this queen bed epitomizes rustic elegance merged with contemporary flair. Key Features: Natural Flaws as Features: I celebrate the wood's imperfections, incorporating borer holes and splits to enhance its character. Precision Joinery: Meticulous mortise joints ensure seamless integration between footboard and bedhead, overcoming challenges with innovative techniques. Personalised Touches: Handcrafted tenon joints and a unique longhorn motif add individuality and artistry to the design. Modern Practicality: Functional elements like securely affixed side panels and stable bed slats ensure longevity and usability. Lacquer Finish: A clear lacquer coating seals the wood's essence, accentuating its natural beauty and grain patterns. In essence, my project pays homage to tradition while embracing innovation, resulting in a timeless piece that stands as both a center piece and a tribute to the art of craftsmanship.
