Hasan Yigitoglu, Bespoke Walnut Study Desk (Student Awards 2019)

Reflecting a walnut tree's natural state with its branches, elegant curves and tapered legs the design complements the natural timber with soft edges and fine detail in the stark contrasting timber. Soft close drawer runners and careful placement of boards during lamination for stark aesthetics finalise the customised design. Extensive planning and construction to overcome challenges produced an elegant and bespoke piece of furniture to the highest quality appealing to all factors of both form and function with its array of joinery methods and practical symmetry. Constructing this table brought great joy and was motivational in the essence of the hard work that was implemented to create a one off piece of high quality furniture that will always retain its sentimental value and distinctive qualities. Final measurements: 1550(L)×650(W)×800mm(H) Year 12, Rosebank College.
