A Playful set of cabinets made for a particular space and specific use. These cabinets were both a joy and a challenge to make, each created using a multitude of cabinetry techniques; mitred tenon corners, tongue and groove for the back panels, tapered sliding dovetails, stub tenons, dowels, knife hinges, butt hinges and a stay, each has a French cleat and routing and painting for aesthetics. The cabinets are made from red beech gifted by family. Each box was made differently to reflect the unique character of the wood pieces used. Bora box: Made to house tall bottles, this cabinet was created from a single piece of colourfully grained wood. Even with a few borer marks, it’s still beautiful, hence using it on the outside of the box . Bonkers box: This box hides the chaos of wifi and router etc. and is made from seven pieces of wood all joined together. Booze box: When seen in situ this cabinet anchors this trio of boxes together. It includes a pink drawer with an especially-large gold knob chosen specifically to honour my husband and his heart of gold. His unwavering support, belief and encouragement has enabled me to pursue my dream and profession in wood craft.
