The Hallway Table is an exercise in lightness. To pare back the bedside table to the bare minimum without compromising on strength and function. Putting the beauty of the timber at the forefront of the piece. This object was crafted from salvaged Manna Gum and Shining Gum from Ceres Fairwood ensuring the highest and best use of timber that might otherwise have been turned into mulch or firewood. The legs of the table have been hand tapered and shaped using planes and spokeshaves to give a faceted finish that have a very tactile appeal. The draw front and back are both canted to create the reciprocal angle of the chamfer of the top. The simple timber drawer runners and removable solid timber draw bottom ensure the future repairability of the piece. The oil-based finish lends itself to simple refinishing, allowing the piece to be brought back to life with ease.
