This piece represents a labour spanning 2 years from 2022 to its completion in 2024. It is a modern instrument that pays homage to its classical stringed family roots. Using reclaimed timbers, acquired from salvage yards across Melbourne, we have an all Australian and all recycled hardwood instrument. The body is fully carved front and rear, constructed with Tasmanian Blackwood and Silky Oak and an inlaid Gidgee tail piece. The neck-through construction is of a Spotted Gum, Tasmanian Blackwood and Vic Ash lamination with a Gidgee fretboard, featuring hand cut and set Mother of Pearl inlays and Stainless-Steel purfling. This guitar shares not only the look of classical instruments as the inclusion of an active Piezo bridge allows the player to switch from modern electric to a full acoustic sound.
