Wendy Cunningham, Ash Bedside Tables (Student)

My bedside tables are made from solid ash and inspired by my love for Scandinavian and mid-century modern design. The influences can be seen in the clean lines, open sides, and the integrated drawer pull. They merge effortlessly with the lighter wood, bevelled tabletop and mitred drawer unit. I used hidden insert-nuts and bolts on the legs, table top and drawer so the bedside is flat-packable for delivery.   I devoted particular attention to the rear of the drawer unit, incorporating a framed back. Although it will not be seen very often, I wanted to make a feature of the beautifully varied ash tones. The real feature of these bedsides however, is the ability to use the top of the drawer as a shelf. This is sufficient height from the ground so it can be easily reached from your bed. It is perfect for tucking away or charging your laptop, phone or tablet, without taking up premium table top space. The bedsides are finished in clear Danish oil.
