My take on traditional forms and techniques re-imagined with a modern palette. The Alice Writing Desk is a project for my young daughter. Writing from fiction and imagination requires inspiration and a playfulness. The aim was to reflect that in the desk with Alice in Wonderland imagery to excite the imagination. This allowed me to play in the federal style with a vibrant palette. Each detail was thought out and made to fit the overall vision right down to the hand turned bottle pull. The desk is Sapele with coloured veneer marquetry and inlay work using Roarokit skateboard lamination sheets. Traditional form with a pop art feel.
