Hank Tyler, Abstract in Red Box (ART, OBJECTS 2021)

This 48 cm high Abstract was hand carved with chisels and then smoothed with rasps from a recently cut crotch of Red Box from Upper Plenty, Victoria. The sides of the sculpture display the branches growth rings. The slight cracking of the wood creates attractive hairline cracks that adds to texture. The sculpture was sanded to #600, and finished with Tung Oil.
