The “78 table” designed and made by Mike Fleming. The ‘78 table’ was designed for a fundraiser auction to support the Adelaide Women and Children’s Hospital, as part of a dinner held yearly at Lot 100, home of the Adelaide Hills 78 Degrees Distillery. The inspiration for the table’s design was to create a geometrically unique support structure that complimented a natural edge top. The angular legs are splayed at 78 degrees paying homage to the gin company and matching the theme of the event. Its Tasmanian blackwood top is made with book-matched slabs, separated by a small void, creating an illusion of balance above a crisscrossed lower rail. The Tasmanian oak legs have been ebonized naturally and create a contrast in tones that completes this concept.
