Anthony Cox, 1950s Coffee Table (Furniture)

My 1950s Coffee Table is inspired by the work of Italian designer Mario Gottardi. In keeping with the tones used in the era it is made from blue gum, chosen by the client for this commission to maintain as much of the original aesthetic as possible. The front recess is designed to showcase small house plants suiting the overall ‘wheelbarrow’ look. Recessed toughened glass ensures effortless functionality, making it is as enjoyable to use as it is to admire. The piece measures just over 1200mm wide x 500mm deep x 400mm high.
