VIDEO: Inside the Martin Guitar Factory

Who doesn’t love a factory tour? Set within the historic C.F.Martin & Co Inc building, Brendan Hackett takes us through their complete process of instrument building.

The tour begins in the timber storage area, through to break-down in the machining room and then drying/stabilising racks. Sections are inspected, graded, matched and onto subsequent processes of shaping, assembly and finishing.

It’s a large factory where numerous automated and hand guided processes are closely monitored every step of the way. In spite of the volume of instruments produced, it seems somethings can only be done by hand.
