For the uninitiated a dado blade is a sawing system that is basically made up of two cutters and a set of shims. Instead of doing multiple cuts with a regular sawblade to create a trench, a dado blade will achieve this in one pass, making it ideal for production work. The shims used determine the width of the trench created.
In this video, Stefan Kremer from Felder Group describes the system, then shows how to install it. He then cuts a number of trenches and shows the resulting accurate fit when the shelves are inserted.
