JamFactory’s collection of Australian designed and made furniture designs could definitely be your favourite new ‘jam’.

jam products are a result of collaboration between Australian craft exponents, makers and fabricators. The latest product from the jam collection of furniture, lighting and objects is the Hold Chair. Designed by Adelaide based designer maker, and JamFactory alumnus, Takeshi Iue, the Hold Chair is a modern reinterpretation of a classic Ming Chair.

Iue strives to achieve a sense of balance and simplicity across concept, form, materiality and construction within his design practice. Born in Osaka, Japan, Iue is an accomplished maker known for creating objects that exude a visual simplicity that belies the complexity of their construction.

JamFactory's Furniture Studio worked closely with Iue over a number of years in the design and development of the chair, refining the aesthetic details and mastering the manufacturing techniques.

With a design that prioritises tactility over adornment, the Hold Chair features clean, flowing lines and evokes a sense of lightness. Made from Tasmanian oak or Tasmanian blackwood, the chair includes a unique ceramic button detail at the end of each armrest. Each chair is handcrafted at JamFactory.
