$40,000 of JamFactory scholarships awarded

JamFactory in Adelaide is thrilled to announce the recipients of seven exciting scholarships valued at more than $40,000, generously supported by the JamFactory Medici Collective and our residency partners.

Open to JamFactory Associates and recent alumni from the JamFactory Associate Program, these scholarships provide invaluable professional development opportunities for emerging practitioners working across Glass, Ceramics, Furniture and Jewellery/Metal design.

The scholarships include residencies in 2023 at renowned organisations across the world including Domaine de Boisbuchet in Lessac, France; Pilchuck Glass School in Washington, USA; Corning Museum of Glass in New York, USA; Central Craft in Mparntwe (Alice Springs), NT; Bundanon in Illaroo, NSW; The Australian National University School of Art and Design in Canberra, ACT and Canberra Glassworks in Kingston, ACT.

Building relationships with these like-minded organisations nationally and globally allows JamFactory to extend its creative community and expand the sharing of contemporary craft and design skills and knowledge.

The 2023 scholarship recipients are;
- furniture and object designer Bolaji Teniola (workshops at Domaine de Boisbuchet),
- ceramicist Xanthe Murphy (workshops at Domaine de Boisbuchet),
- glass artist Calum Donaldson (workshop at Pilchuck Glass School),
- glass artist Carman Skeehan (workshop at Corning Museum of Glass),
- jeweller Polly Dymond (residency at Central Craft),
- jeweller Danielle Barrie (residency at Bundanon),
- glass artist Bailey Donovan (residency at Australian National University) and
- glass artist Alexandra Hirst (residency at Canberra Glassworks).

With an Associate Degree in Furniture Design and a Bachelor of Industrial Design from RMIT University, Bolaji Teniola draws on experience working for furniture design studios in the Netherlands and Indonesia. He is an emerging interdisciplinary designer, blending his knowledge of furniture and industrial design to develop pieces that occupy known genres or something new entirely.

Teniola’s works have been showcased in various group exhibitions and have garnered several awards. In addition, he is currently undertaking the Furniture Associate Program at the JamFactory in South Australia.
