"18" exhibition celebrates NZ Centre for Fine Woodworking coming of age

Last month saw the opening of the Centre for Fine Woodworking’s annual exhibition which featured works by 17 makers, all tutors or graduates of the CFW in Nelson, New Zealand.

The exhibition was titled 18 in recognition of the school’s coming of age and the passing of skills from one generation to the next. Since 2006, the school has tutored 2500 students.

Works by the following makers were shown: Rob Bentley, Valentin Bocatzou, Lloyd Brooke Anderson, Tony Clark, Natasha Courtney, Peter Cowper, Ben Grant, David Haig, Gloria Hildred, Josephine Jelicich, Hape Kiddle, Alice Knight, Keren Oertly, Saul Parkinson and Ben Tindall. In addition, posthumous works by Thorkild Hansen and William Bayliss were also included.

The exhibition was curated by Helen Gerry and celebrated her 14 years’ dedicated service to the school as Trust Manager.
