Redesigning Maloof

Robert Howard is a contributing editor to Australian Wood Review. In the June issue he writes about the his variation on Sam Maloof's classic sculpted chair joint.

While Maloof's front leg joint is relatively straightforward the back joint is only square to the seat in side elevation. In the front elevation it has a few degrees of cant. Instead of using different sets of router bits to achieve this Robert shows how he drills and turns dowels which he fits and shapes afterwards.
