Australian red cedar
320 x 320 x 160mm h

Ashlee had an idea of creating a jewellery box that incorporated the yin-yang symbol. She discovered her grandfather had some old cedar in his shed at home and liked the idea of using it for the jewellery box.

Besign sketches were completed with the idea of the lid parting on the intersection of the yin-yang symbol. The carcase of the box would be dovetailed together, as would the drawer which would be made using traditional construction techniques incorporating the use of slips. The base as well as the lid would be crossbanded with red cedar. The piece was finished with Scandinavian oil.
