Walnut, Victorian ash, perspex, leather

1250 x 1300 x 550mm

I’ve made a roll top desk using walnut contrasting with Victorian ash taking advantage of the natural features within the grain of the walnut. By using traditional woodworking techniques as well as contemporary techniques I was able to achieve an aesthetically pleasing design that resembles a modern feel yet at the same time displays a traditional style and look. By using both traditional and modern methods I was able to utilize woodworking joints such as dovetail joints in my drawers, through stepped mitered mortise and tennon joints in the frame and routed ball socket joints in the tambour door.
