Copper Oxide is a sideboard I made this year for the Object Design Course with the design brief of camouflage. To me, camouflage describes something that changes to blend into its environment to disguise itself. In my research of designers I was inspired by the way Toby Muir Wilson and George Nakashima used natural curves in their designs. I was also inspired by the way cuttlefish change colour and how nature has started to take over the abandoned Fukushima city. This got me thinking about using copper because it will change colour in response to the environment over time.
